你的构造远非完美。根据最新一份研究结果，人类基因组75%的编码都是无用的。休斯顿大学的Dan Graur表示，目前一些研究团体将DNA的任何生化活动，不管多微小，都视为功能性的体现;这是不对的，只有当一个基因片断拥有有意义的用处时，才能算作有功能。而对于功能性基因来说，如果一个变异出现并打乱片断时，就会对人体造成危害。出于很多原因，DNA总是在任意变异，比如说紫外线辐射或细胞分裂时出现的DNA复制错误。Graur认为，如果人类大多数的DNA都是功能性的，那么大多数有害的变异早就令人类不堪承受了。而如果人类大多数DNA都没有用的话，那么大多数变异都无关痛痒，只有少数会起到非常明显的效果，这和现实惊人的一致。
