　　“The Heart of the Matter,” the just-released report by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), deserves praise for affirming the importance of the humanities and social sciences to the prosperity and security of liberal democracy in America. Regrettably, however, the report’s failure to address the true nature of the crisis facing liberal education may cause more harm than good.

　　然后可以排除D选项(tolerant: 容忍的)， 作者的态度一般不是会tolerate，如果真的容忍的话，那一般来说就不写文章了。 如果命题人态度题没有为难大家的话，一般来说可以排除两个选项， 剩下两个选项，一个是负面情感词(critical: 批评的)， 一个是正面情感词(appreciative: 欣赏的)，一正一负，一黑一白，然后根据题干回原文进行定位解题即可。

　　解题： 根据题干中的AAAS’ report. 我们会发现，原文有两个地方出现了report，一个是the just released report of，另外一处为however, the report’s failure to, 这个时候，我们解题一定要有焦点意识，知道哪里是重点，明显发现，转折后面是重点，所以重点看第二句话，发现里面有failure, may cause more harm than good, 明显讲不好的事情，所以最终确定答案为A.

　　总结： 在该题中笔者并没有对句子含义进行过多分析，因为在实际考试过程中，同学们很可能会遇到看不懂的文章，那如果文章看不懂，题就不用做了么? 非也，基础不够，技巧来凑。 但是技巧再好也是需要同学们有一定的词汇以及语法长难句基础的。 态度题的技巧一般就是可以先不看原文，将一些 不可能成为正确答案的情感词排除之后，再回原文进行选择。

　　以下一道题作为训练，同学们可以思考一下我们的态度词能排除的是哪两个， 剩下的两个态度词又应该选择哪一个呢?
