　　一、yet的用法

　　yet既可以用作副词，也可以用作连词。

　　A. 用作副词时，表示：

　　1. 立即，即刻。例如：Don’t move yet. 先别动!

　　2. 从现在算起的某一时间段内。

　　例如：We will be busy for ages yet. 我们还得辛苦很长一段时间。

　　3. 与would, might, may等词一起使用，表示迟早可能发生的事。

　　例如：We may pass the entrance examination for postgraduate schools yet.

　　我们迟早会考上研究生的。

　　4. 与the best，the longest连用，表示迄今为止。

　　例如：This tower is the highest building yet in the city.

　　这座塔是迄今为止城内最高的建筑。

　　B. 用作连词时，表示转折，相当于however。

　　例如:Yet the boss of a troubled company often has to belt out an upbeat number about how brilliant the firm is while simultaneously wailing a lament about how hard it will be to knock into shape.

　　然而逆境中的企业老板往往需要一边高调展示公司的繁荣表象，一边为改变惨淡现状暗自神伤。

　　二、counter的用法

　　counter的含义比较丰富，而且各含义之间差异较大，故梳理如下：

　　1. 作前缀，表示“反对，对抗，相反”

　　Otsuka, which also produces a big-selling health drink called Pocari Sweat, sees it as part of a counteroffensive against Western snacks that are making Asians fatter.

　　大冢司正在推进一项反攻计划，目的是向把亚洲人变得越来越胖的西式零食发出挑战，而Pocari Sweat也属于该计划的一部分。

　　此外，例如：

　　counter-clockwise逆时针方向

　　counteractive反对的, 反作用的, 抵抗的2

　　2. 作副词，表示“反方向地,相反地 (+to)”

　　Sometimes，we may act counter to old conventions.

　　有时候，我们可以尝试创新。

　　3.作形容词，表示“反对的;相反的;对立的 (+to)”

　　Our friends’ opinion was counter to that of mine.

　　朋友们的意见与我自己的意见相反。

　　4.作动词，表示“反驳，抵消”

　　I try to argue but he counters that the witness has been absent all the way.

　　我试着争辩，但是他反驳说目击证人一直都未到场。

　　counter the debt抵销债务

　　5.作名词，表示“柜台，处方室”

　　man behind the counter营业员

　　You can buy the medicine over the counter.

　　这些药不用医生开处方也能购买。

　　Drugs are frequently sold under the counter in that country.

　　在那个国家，常常有人私下秘密交易毒品。
