But for weeks now he has led the polls for the Republican nomination.特朗普宣布要竞选总统被当成一个笑话。全世界人民都在纳闷：一个毫无政治经验的投机倒把之人竟然想当三军总司令?怎么会有人想让这么一个任性的土豪染指核按钮。但最近几周，特朗普却在共和党总统提名人选的民调中一直保持领先优势。
　　
　　Mr Trump is not in thrall to the hobblins of consistency. On abortion, he has said both “I'm very pro-choice” and “I'm pro-life”. On guns, he has said “Look, there's nothing I like better than nobody has them” and “i fully support and back up the Second Amendment” (which guarantees the right to bear arms)..特朗普并没有遵从政治口径一致的一贯原则。他说过“强烈支持女性有选择权”，也说过“主张生命自由权”;在枪支问题上，他既说过“最喜欢的是没有人拥有枪支”，也说过“完全支持并赞同(持枪权利)第二修正案”。
　　
　　照现在的局势看，特朗普虽然表达出了清晰且大胆的立场，但是，这是一种令人讨厌的立场。身为亿万富翁，他的造势活动不差钱。老油条们仍然认为，共和党最终会像过去那样，抱团支持一位主流候选人。但是，国际社会不这么看。共和党应当认真听听特朗普说了什么，然后把选票投给另外的人。
