　　长难句虽然不作为单独考查的内容出现在考研英语真题的试卷中，但是它却渗透到了各个专项中，比如，阅读，翻译，完形，甚至是新题型。如果长难句这个障碍疏理不掉的话，做题时，会困难重重。鉴于此，文都考研老师精心为考研学子挑选出一些经典的，有特点的长难句，就相关知识点进行剖析，希望能助大家一臂之力。

　　【结构剖析】

　　主干为science does provide us with guide and it is critical that ....

　　our nation and the world base important policies on the best judgments 为主语从句，it指代的内容。that science can provide concerning the future consequences of present actions.为定语从句修饰judgments.

　　【猜词技巧】

　　critical是多义词，既可以表示批判的，也可以表示评论的，重要的。因为and 前后连接两个并列的分句，前面的分句里does对谓语动词进行了强调，所以critical在这里处理为“重要的”。

　　【翻译点拔】

　　由于critical表示“重要的”，那么它后面的从句谓语动词要用虚拟语气，base前把should省略掉了，翻译的时候一定要进行处理，把should进行还原。

　　【参考译文】

　　但是科学确实为我们提供了涉及未来的最佳指导，对于现在的行为之于未来的结果，科学能提供最好的评判，我们的国家和世界应该把重要的政策机遇这种判断之上，这一点非常重要。

　　【经典难句二】

　　主干为This trend began. When后引导定语从句，修饰World War。定语从句中嵌套了同位语从句对conclusion内容做一步说明。同位语从句中又嵌套了定语从句对specific demands进行修饰限定，同时起来分隔的作用。

　　【猜词技巧】

　　establishment是establish的名词形式，“建立”。但在本句中，scientific establishment如果译为“科学建立”显然是说不通的，应该处理为“科研机构”。

　　【翻译点拔】

　　When引导定语从句时，译为“当时，那时，到时候”，....cannot generally be foreseen....被动语态，译的时候尽量少出现“被”，直接处理为“通常是不能预见的”。

　　【参考译文】

　　这种趋势始于第二次世界大战期间，当时一些国家的政府得出结论：政府向科研机构提出的具体要求通常是无法详尽预见的。
