谷歌搜索因为广告与仇恨言论和极端主义等内容出现在一起而面临危机。大量公司和政府机构宣布撤销在谷歌和YouTube上的广告业务，认为这些不合体的内容有损形象。欧洲电信运营商沃达丰则更进一步，宣布严格的全球广告政策，放弃业内惯例的黑名单做法，开始采用广告白名单的策略。沃达丰认为谷歌的算法无法快速有效地识别“有毒”内容，面对狡猾的不良内容传播者，黑名单往往效果有限，甚至让人感觉捉襟见肘。但并不是所有企业都能效仿沃达丰的做法，人工内容审核和白名单政策的成本巨大，中小企业甚至是大型企业都可能不愿承担。网络黑暗的一面日益显露其狰狞的面貌。如何有效地应对，这是一个值得众人深思的难题。
