今天要系统的讲一下非谓语动词做状语:

第一种情况:

两个句子主语相同,去掉一个主语,动词做以下的变化:

am/is/are 变为being             

was/were 变为having been

do/does 变为 doing

did 变为 having done 

be done 变为  done     

规则:

1. Being可以被省略

2. 两个句子都是过去式:

was/were 既可以变为having been 也可以变为being;

did既可以变为having done 也可以变为doing;

今天任务之填空题:

2) He argues that the objection from the Congress is ridiculous. 

= The president believes that the proposal is beneficial for the nation, ______ that the objection from the Congress is ridiculous.

2. 1) Media coverage describes loneliness as an epidemic.

2) Media coverage likens it to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

    = Media coverage describes loneliness as an epidemic,_______ it to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

3. 1) Trump took a page from the Democrats, 

2) Trump embraced a plan to allow Medicare to netiate directly with drug manufacturers.

3) Trump promised that such a scheme could save hundreds of millions of dollars and reduce drug prices.

处理:见到ing 和ed 一定要切分后独立成句  

例1:

The president believes that the proposal is beneficial for the nation,  arguing that the objection from the Congress is ridiculous.

=

1) The president believes that the proposal is beneficial for the nation. 

总统相信这项计划对于国家是有利的。

2) He argues that the objection from the Congress is ridiculous. 

他认为来自国会的反对是可笑的。

例2. 

Media coverage describes loneliness as an epidemic,likening  it to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

=

1) Media coverage describes loneliness as an epidemic.

媒体报道把孤独描述为一种流行病。

2) Media coverage likens it to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

媒体报道把吸烟比作一天抽15支烟。

例3.

Taking  a page from the Democrats, Trump embraced a plan to allow Medicare to netiate directly with drug manufacturers, promising that such a scheme could save hundreds of millions of dollars and reduce drug prices. 

=

1) Trump took a page from the Democrats, 

特朗普向民主党人学习。

2) Trump embraced a plan to allow Medicare to netiate directly with drug manufacturers.

特朗普接受了一项计划,允许医疗保险与药品制造商直接谈判的。

3) Trump promised that such a scheme could save hundreds of millions of dollars and reduce drug prices. 

特朗普承诺这样一个计划可以节省数亿美元和降低药品价格。

第二种情况:

两个句子主语不同,保留两个主语,动词做以下的变化:

am/is/are 变为being             

was/were 变为having been

do/does 变为 doing

did 变为 having done 

be done 变为  done     

规则:

1. Being可以被省略

2. 两个句子都是过去式:

was/were 既可以变为having been 也可以变为being;

did既可以变为having done 也可以变为doing;

3. 独立主格之前还可以加with (也可以不加)

4.加不加with和省略Being 没有关系。

处理:切分以后独立成句

例1:

President Bush campaigned to move Social Security to a saving-account model,with retirees tradingmuch or all of their guaranteed payments for payments depending on investment returns.

=

1) President Bush campaigned to move Social Security to a saving-account model. 

布什总统努力的将社会保障体系变为储蓄账户模式。

2) Retirees trade much or all of their guaranteed payments for payments depending on investment returns.

布什总统努力的将社会保障体系变为储蓄账户模式。

例2:

Trump administration has abandoned central principles of conservative economic policy, (with) the commitment to ultra-low inflation  (being) foremost among them. 

=

1) Trump administration has abandoned central principles of conservative economic policy.

特朗普政府已经放弃了保守经济政策的核心原则。

2) The commitment to ultra-low inflation is foremost among them. 

其中最重要的是对超低通胀的承诺。

例3:
